Voice Actor Reveal: Eldrin!

In the words of DJ Khalid, "another one." I am so very happy to announce that Luca Xavier will be lending his talents once again to PSA as the Dökkálfar royal guard Eldrin!

Eldrin was the last of our Dökkálfar students to be revealed, and the third to be cast. While he is a pretty small role, he's integral to illustrate Prince Famenor's character traits.

Casting Eldrin was surprisingly easy and quick compared to say Elandorr or Elrohir who took a bit more time and consideration. I had saw Luca express how he wanted to play more silver-haired boys, and coincidentally Nastrpank and I were in the middle of designing Eldrin. And when I took a second to think about it, the casting just made sense he felt like a character that Luca would absolutely nail. And that really was all there was to it, Luca gave me some options I picked one and we were off to the races.

I didn't really have a voice in mind for Eldrin, originally I guess I imagined him as soft-spoken. Which is not the direction Luca and I took ha, ha, ha. But I think what Luca came up with really made more sense given Eldrin's character. He's mature, a warrior, I think making him soft-spoken would have been really derivative. And with Elrohir being sort of soft-spoken it would have really done a disservice to him. I think the power and attention Luca's performance commands paints a much better picture of his personality. Another trapping one could fall into voicing an Elven character would be to have them sound sort of posh. Which at that point if all your Elves sound that way you're just sort of feeding into fantasy stereotypes. It wouldn't have made sense for Eldrin to speak that way because he's not someone of status he was a commoner so it would stand to reason he's not going to speak the same way as Elandorr, or even Elrohir. He wasn't raised by nobility so I think the dichotomy of how he speaks versus his contemporaries really makes him stand out and intriguing.

As I said before Eldrin is a small role. So I don't know much I can really say to illustrate how great Luca's performance is. I suppose the best compliment I can pay is that while true Eldrin's role vocally is substantially smaller than some others of the cast. Luca's performance really makes him feel just as important and substantial as anyone else in the game/book. And he certainly is a key figure, it's sort of hard to pin down what makes Luca's performance so wonderful; but I think you'll all agree it's great when you get to hear it after the audiobook releases. Until then you'll just have to take my word for it and be patient. So once more I am thrilled to say, "Luca, welcome to Pleasant Sparkle Academy." Or should I more aptly say, "welcome back to Pleasant Sparkle Academy, may you continue to prosper here among our students and faculty."
