1 whole year has passed since I began work on this project and since I took about a month and a half off I thought it'd be good to just give you all an update on things.
So the goal had been to release the demo in February which obviously shan't be happening now. My new goal is April. The idea will be to open auditions for the next wave of characters at the beginning of March end of this month. So end of April would likely be the earliest I could release the demo, so if I'm being honest it's more like May is the goal. Which seems like a long ways away, but things creep up on you and these things take time. I want to allow people at least a month to submit auditions, and while I could cast some characters now I'd rather have one decent batch and open up submissions all at once. So that's the plan on that front.
I will say most of the programming for the demo is done a lot of what's left is just assets. Some sound effects, voice over, a single character sprite. So the bulk of the work is completed. And at the moment everything is more or less working right. I do have minor control issues to work out as currently keyboard controls don't work outside the shop kind of randomly, but everything else is golden.
The shop is all programmed and bug free which took a very long time the items have more or less been implemented, they do only have temporary sprite work at the moment so I will have to correct that before release, but we'll get there. Worst case scenario I could release the demo with the temporary sprites, I just would prefer not to.
We got a new sticker designed and implemented it's one of the only ones you can actually get in the demo, but that's exciting.
Most of the backgrounds are done. I think there's just 4 remaining that we have to get completed.
We've planned out the next three characters to be designed Zubyar, Ghazali and a secret character that won't be revealed ever you'll just have to play the game and find him.
And uh yeah we're almost there, I'm programming the last event of the demo. In the full game there'll be more early game events and scenes, but for now everything I've definitely had planned has been implemented all save for one event which is the one I'm currently working on.
So yeah that's really about it I think, but I just wanted to thank you all for sticking it out with me and hopefully that demo will finally be in your metaphorical hands very soon!
