Character Reveal: Daniel Wood

Originally born Harriet Wood, Daniel Wood is a fairly competent Witch who previously attended a rather prestigious boarding school for “witchcraft and wizardry”. While a great tagline for parents it is a bit redundant, Daniel's friend Emelia would say seeing as Witch is a gender neutral term, so the separation is needless. She’d probably even go as far to tell you, “you mine as well be saying, ‘magic and magic’.” Daniel’s friend Robert Bone on the other hand would simply shrug and say something to the effect of, “if you say so mate.” After attending the school for three years Daniel’s guardians in agreement with Emelia’s parents decided to pull him out; and enroll him at Pleasant Sparkle Academy instead. It was at this time Daniel came out as trans fully supported by their family and childhood friends Robert and Emelia. Speaking of family Daniel currently resides with the Bones, as his parents were murdered by an evil Sorcerer when he was, but a baby. In accordance to their will custody was assigned to the Bones who were his godparents as well as friends. Which was good seeing as Daniel’s living relatives, (an aunt and uncle) were a cruel and greedy sort. This saved them from what surely would have been years of developmental trauma. The evil Sorcerer was found years later during Daniel’s first year at boarding school, and was captured and sentenced to an eternity of magical torture. They had wanted to finish the job, but despite infiltrating the school (in a rather elaborate, probably needless manor). They were discovered, and restrained by none other than the child they were trying to kill. Robert and Emelia of course helped. So that was surely another level of humiliation, and quite cathartic for Daniel. And while the event has left Daniel with PTSD they manage to live for the most part a normal life. Unfortunately that means night terrors from time to time and anxiety. Among visual and audio triggers a prospective partner will have to learn. They have a myriad of interests from mundane to magical. Potions, Herbology, Divination are a couple of his enjoyed subjects. While on the Human side of things he’s quite fond of golfing, literature, and acting.

He still wears his “house colors” like Emelia, but it’s more out of an ingrained habit than a fondness for his former school. Despite his dark backstory Daniel really is your average American teenage boy. And while dating them may not always be easy, it certainly would be the standard Human experience for the most part. The great thing about dating him is you’ll have the best of both worlds, magic and human. Side by side in harmony.

They’re supportive, and fairly vulnerable, though it’ll take some coaxing as they don’t like burdening others. They’re not dimwitted, but they’re no Einstein either. They don’t feel one way or the other about school and take every day as they come. They do their best to stay upbeat and positive in spite of their disorders.

The best way to get to know them would be over a cup of tea in a quiet place away from the noise of the world. They are a bit of a celebrity in the magical world, so that might be something one should keep in mind should they pursue a relationship with him. That being said, celebrity isn’t something Daniel asked for or wants famously saying, “I don’t want fame or glory, I just want to be me.” They’re modest, quiet, and down to Earth. Any Witch would be lucky to have them as a partner.
